Yamaha SR 500 "Oddjob" by Deus According to Deus’ creative director Carby Tuckwell, “The idea started as a little cafe hoon sled, which is why it has the fiberglass bits. We had the tires and bars from another build, so we bolted it all together, connected the 3-phase jumper leads, stepped back and laughed our maniac cackles as it jolted together.” I bet it sounds good: the stock 499cc air-cooled motor has been punched out to 542cc and blueprinted by local guru Carl Batey of Cafe Racer—a man who learnt much of his trade at Moriwaki in Japan. A Carrillo rod keeps things together at high revs, with fuelling coming from a gorgeous Keihin FCR39 carb.
The rest of the bike shows Deus’ typical attention to detail, with splashes of red paint, intricate decal work and even a clear Perspex splashguard in front of the back wheel. Tracker bars, blacked-out mag wheels and Dunlop K180 tires complete the look. Slim, agile and antisocial, it’s the sort of machine that just begs to be ridden.Source Deus bikeexif.com |
