DAY 4
I was spend walking around parts of Milan. The most impressive in Milan is the huge number of motorcycle users during the day. From what has been observed for most of the day, these are the findings :
1) Most Italian drove very small cars as their streets are very narrow and parking spaces are rare so small cars are easy to go around and park. most popular are the Fiats, Renault, Citron, Peugeot.
2) During the day time, 40% scooters from 100-250 cc / 30% scooters from 250 - 800 cc / 30% are street or sports bikes of 600-1600cc
| 3) There are a surprising number of BMW being the biggest seen big bike on the road, then a good mixture of Harleys, Ducati's, and the big Japanese 4. 4) Parking on the street are relatively easy with most street both ends with designated Motorcycle parking spaces. Many bikes are on Pavements on side roads but as long as you're NOT blocking pedestrian traffics, you're quite safe with not getting penalties, which speaks alot about our Hong Kong Bike parking problems.
| Italy is one of the most motorcycle populous country in EU with UK actually having the biggest number of big cc bikes. Other countries as Spain, Germany, Scandinavians, are all biker friendly countries and the Gov't actually encourage people to use bikes then their cars.
We hope our China Gov't can see the light soon and hopefully one day soon, our China streets will have some great bikes same as EU and the rest of the world.
